Brief Description


The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) established on March 1, 1957, is not only a national agricultural research institution with multiple disciplines, but also an academic center for agricultural research in China. The Academy undertakes as its major tasks the applied research as well as applied basic research on agriculture and reinforces the developmental research to solve the key scientific problems with overall importance in national agricultural economy and to provide research achievements and services for the realization of agricultural modernization in China. The academy lays its emphasis on fundamental works as will as the research and the application of new techniques and new methods, the training of research personnel so as to raise the academic level of agricultural research, thus to promote the development of agricultural research. The Academy takes the responsibility of organizing the research on development strategies for agricultural production and research projects, and to provide scientific basis for the central government in formulation of important agricultural technical policies. The Academy also edits and publishes professional journals and works, organizes academic activities, and promote the international exchange and cooperation.
